In case you missed it, I’ve been cleaning up a few things in the digital realm. More here.
TLDR: I’ve got a new position at a new job and here’s where it’s being talked about.
I don’t talk about work that much. I used to the be the HelpDesk Manager at a Seattle non profit organization. I was abruptly laid off in 2012 and quickly transitioned to a startup in Bellevue as a Systems Administrator, focusing on OS X deployments and end user experiences. About six months ago, I transitioned to a small IT firm in downtown Seattle as a Systems Administrator. Last month, I started a new role as a Professional Services Engineer at this company.
On the plus side, much better experiences and being able to present multiple solutions to clients without as much of the political stuff that happens when at just a single client. It's also great to see how people come to the same solutions via sometimes different methods. The minus side is (well… it’s actually slightly mixed) the travel. I like travel and I like being with my family. This is such a mixed bag. With this position being new, I’m liking it… but I also really like seeing my kid off to school. I'm happy to talk about this tension offline or on Twitter.
This has changed some of the focus of my photography somewhat. It’s been pretty quiet lately with more focus on the topic of shoots instead of a much more regular shooting schedule. Additionally, I’ve been working on time lapses and long exposures to show the different places I'm at.
This month, I'll have a small art show in the Central District. Once I have the material ready, I'll have more information available.
Meanwhile, enjoy this video.
