Trusty Tools: Fun Times in Terminal

I’ve been doing more and more and more work in Terminal lately. This weeks fun time was setting up a mount on a server to my home folder so I can quickly get information in and out of a server.

… I know I can setup an scp link… but this was a nice couple lines:

mkdir /tmp/directoryname

mount -t cifs -o username=DOMAINNAME\/USERNAME,workgroup=WORKGROUPNAME //SERVERNAME/DIRECTORY /tmp/directoryname

Where

DOMAINNAME = your domain

USERNAME = your username

WORKGROUPNAME = your workgroup name (AD)

//SERVERNAME/DIRECTORY = path that you want

Also… that second set of code is all one line.

One more thing…. http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/03/send-an-alert-to-notification-center-from-the-command-line-in-os-x/

Using notification center. ….. make a script from that to occasionally do things.
